Halloween comes around with what seems like an annual regularity these days and each year it’s celebrated with a selection of new themed online slots; in 2019 it’s the turn of Book of Halloween, developed by Inspired Gaming and offering players free spins and expanding wild symbols.
Book of Halloween is a five reel slot with three rows and ten fixed paylines; spooky but cheerful music accompanies the gameplay which takes place on transparent reels through which we can make out a scary house perched on an unlikely hill, silhoutted against the full moon.
The four high value symbols include a zombie hand, a gravestone, a cauldron bubbling with green liquid and a glowing pumpkin; 10, J, Q, K and A make up the lower values.
The Book is wild and it will substitute for all other symbols to help form winning combinations – it’s also the key to activating the main feature.
Bonus Features
Free Spins
Landing at least three of the wild Book symbols anywhere in view will award the following:
- Three Books – 10 free spins + 2x stake.
- Four Books – 10 free spins + 20x stake.
- Five Books – 10 free spins + 200x stake.
Before the round starts one of the standard symbols will be picked at random and whenever it lands it will expand to fill all positions on its reel if a win is possible.
Gamble Feature
If your tolerance to risk is as little higher than you may be interested in the gamble feature – click it to turn it on, off or available only at wins greater then 5x your stake. Choosing to gamble will award a 50/50 spin to double your win or a chance to win free spins proportional to your win (this is tougher).
Verdict
Book of Halloween is a perfectly serviceable seasonal slot with a nice, spooky atmosphere; sharp-eyed players will notice that it’s very similar to Book of the Irish but don’t let that put you off.
