There are no bigger fans of online and offline slot machines than us but just occasionally we want a break from the reels, the paylines, the symbols and the free spins. This means checking out what else our favourite casinos have to offer and the fact is there’s quite a bit of variety when you start searching.
Bonus Bowling is a nice simple game from Playtech, that most reliable provider of gaming software for the online casino industry and it’s based purely on ten pin bowling. If you’re looking for something that emulates Crown Green bowling you’ll need to look elsewhere.
A fair bit of effort has gone into the look and feel of Bonus Bowling and this is offset by the simplicity of the game itself. It’s that simplicity which is probably the game’s draw and it may well appeal to those who prefer the three reel, single payline classic slots.
The basis of the game is that you are predicting the score for one turn of a bowler – that means two shots. That may seem obvious to those familiar with the game but for those who are not ten pin fans it’s important to stress that one wager covers two throws. A Spare is scored when all the pins are knocked down in two throws while a Strike is scored when all pins are knocked down with the first throw.
You now have a choice of scores from which to pick and it’s fair to say that the bowler is of dubious quality; you can choose from a score 0f 0 – 3 all the way up to a strike. The scores and odds are as follows:
- 0 to 3 – 2/1
- 4 to 6 – 3/1
- 7 to 9 – 5/1
- Spare – 10/1
- Strike – 25/1
So all you do is place your bet, click the ‘Throw’ button and watch the ball head towards the pins. Your minimum bet must be £1 but that can spread over a number of scores. For example you can bet £0.50 on 0 to 3 and another £0.50 on a Spare. The maximum bet per score is £100 except for a Strike which is £25. That means you could theoretically bet £425 per wager.
Look out for the Golden Frame which pops up periodically; score a striker on this game and you’ll win an extra cash prize of 10x your wager.
Bonus Bowling is a great diversion from the standard slot machine; it probably won’t keep you hooked for too long but it’s well worth a go.
