A city populated entirely by fruit is clearly going to be called Fruitopolis and that’s where all the action in this online slot from Skywind takes place – it’s an arcade-style outing with a cluster gameplay mechanic, free spins and plenty of features reached via the Juice Meter.
Fruitopolis is played on the 7 x 7 grid shown above and the gameplay involves creating clusters of matching fruit which are connected horizontally and/or vertically – those symbols involved will then disappear and be replaced by more falling in from above, potentially extending the process. The backdrop to the action is a cityscape illuminated by starlight and the bright buildings.
The regular symbols are all fruit and include strawberries, pineapples, apples, grapes, plums, watermelon, oranges and blueberries; the picnic basket is wild and the gold star is the scatter. Fruit symbols can also contain multiplier values which will be applied to the win.
Fruitopolis Bonus Features
Juice Meter & Power-Ups
On each spin up to five power-up symbols can land in the Juice Meter on the right and the way to access these is to fill that meter – each symbol in a cluster will increment the meter and when twenty have been collected in a single spin the meter fills and the power-ups become active. They can be any of the following:
- Picnic Basket – adds between 5 and 15 wilds to the reels.
- Zap – transforms a random number of fruits into matching ones.
- Spawn – a random fruit on the reels is selected and multiple matching fruit will spawn from this one.
- Merge – links together two matching pieces of fruit, transforming all on the path between.
- Bomb – removes all plums, watermelon, oranges and blueberries to all more fruit to fall onto the reels. Any blanks in the Juice Meter are also removed.
As each power-up is used it disappears from the meter and the space will be filled by a new power-up or a blank.
Free Spins
Three or four gold stars anywhere on the reels will award 10 or 15 free spins respectively and there will always be five 2x multiplier on the reels to start with – once a multiplier is used it will be replaced by a more valuable one up to a maximum of 10x. Three or four scatters during the round will award an extra 5 or 10 free spins.
