We’ve got a feeling that we might see a few football-themed online slots in the run up to the 2014 World Cup and this one is from Big Time Gaming. It’s called Golden Goals and while it’s reminiscent of older one-armed bandits, there’s also a hint of a fruit machine about it.
Golden Goals is a five reel game with twenty paylines and the entire screen area is taken up by reels and various bonus trails. The symbols are all of a very traditional nature and include cherries, lemons, oranges, plums, bells, pears, grapes, melons and bars.
The wild symbol is a flaming football and there’s also a scatter which is represented by a Golden Goals logo.
Bonus Features
Go For Goal Trail
This trail is certainly borrowed from a fruit machine and it’s to the right of the reels. You make you way up it when you land the small numbers on the reels. If you manage to reach the multiplier values you will win that number multiplied by your line stake.
What you really want to do though is reach the Go For Goal mater at the top; you will then be transferred to the trail to the left of the reels. All you have to do here is stop the flashing light, hopefully on the 10000x spot but anywhere will win you a prize. At the same time one of the features will light up, letting you advance further, repeat your pick or collect the contents of the cashpot.
Free Spins
Three or more of the Golden Goals scatter symbols will earn you entry int the free spins round. You will be whisked to a screen where you must press ‘Stop’ to determine the number of spins awarded.
Press ‘Start’ to get things underway and watch as your spins play out; each spin is guaranteed to win and you can see this in action in the video above. Landing more scatters during the spins will reward you with even more.
Verdict
We like most things about this game – a footie theme and two bonus features – but why is it so dark? The only thing letting it down is that you need to turn the lights off and close the curtains to get a decent view.
