Anything which includes pirates just has to be improved by the appearance of these scurvy villains, unless of course you were an actual seafarer in danger of getting attacked. We’ve reviewed a few pirate-themed online slots in the past and now we’ve got the pleasure of checking out one more – it’s called Loose Cannon, it’s by Microgaming and it contains two separate bonus features.
Loose Cannon has five reels and 243 ways to win which is really just a way of doing away with the paylines – to win you must get matching symbols in adjacent reels starting from the left hand side.
The pirate-themed symbols include a brace of pistols, some rum, a treasure map, a treasure chest, a monkey with a cannonball, female and male pirates and the Loose Cannon logo.
The wild symbol is a pirate ship and then there’s a compass/octopus scatter which activates the main feature.
Bonus Features
Wild Stack
If you can land the pirate ship wild symbol on reel three it will replicate to cover that entire reel. The ships on those symbols will now fire a volley of cannonballs into the air and some of them will and on other positions on the reels. They will also become wild, the reels will be reevaluated and hopefully provide a big payout.
Free Spins
The scatter symbol only appears on reels one, three and five but if you can manage to achieve that outcome then you will receive fifteen free spins.
The extra bonus here is that all wins during these spins can be formed from right to left as well as left to right and the spins can also be re-triggered by landing more scatters in the right places.
Verdict
This is good looking slot with all the appropriate pirate-related sound effects. The two bonus features are nice to see although in our experience it’s a lot easier to trigger the stacked wilds than the free spins.
