The share price took a bit of a dent in 2006 when the United States passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, slashing online gaming activity in the US almost overnight.
In the subsequent years, Playtech has expanded its operations into a number of other fields including sports betting, a dedicated download casino for Betfair, a partnership with William Hill Online and Paddy Power. Acquisitions have included Ash Gaming, Virtue Fusion, Vikings, Psiclone Games, Mobenga, Rarestone Gaming, Quickspin, Sunfox Games, Icon, GECO Gaming and Geneity.
