This is a first for us as we’re not aware of any other chess-themed online slots currently available to play; this one’s called Queen Of Thrones, it’s developed by Leander Games and it’s a really interesting attempt to try something a little different. There are three separate bonus features and it’s all described in greater detail below.
Queen Of Thrones is a five reel slot with three rows and thirty fixed paylines; the reels themselves are appropriately chequered and framed by the white King and Queen on either side.
There are twelve different symbols, two of each colour of the following chess pieces – Kings, Queens, Rooks, Bishops, Knights and Pawns.
The wild symbol is a symbol featuring three chess pieces and the bonus features are activated by the Queen, the ‘Free Spins’ and the bonus icon.
Bonus Features
The Throne Feature
You will notice that the centre position of reel three is called ‘The Throne’; land the Queen there and she will ‘capture’ any adjacent pieces of the opposite colour. These pieces will become wild and any wins reevaluated.
White vs Black Bonus
This is the free spins round and it’s triggered by landing three or more of the Free Spins symbols anywhere in view for you which you will earn the following:
- Three symbols – 10 free spins
- Four symbols – 15 free spins
- Five symbols – 30 free spins
You will now be assigned a colour and if any piece of that colour appears in the centre of reel three, those enemy pieces within the movement range of your piece will become wild and the reels reevaluated (of course, different chess pieces move in different manners). Landing a King in the centre will award three extra free spins.
Big Capture Bonus
This is triggered by landing three of the bonus symbols anywhere on reels one, three and five; you will now be faced with a 5×5 chess board and all you have to do is pick five squares to reveal five chess pieces. The more valuable the piece you reveal, the higher the award.
Verdict
Queen Of thrones is a really enjoyable way to spend some reel spinning time with it’s high quality graphics, range of bonus features and innovative ideas. It’s well worth trying out and comes with an RTP of 94.92%.
