What do you get if you cross an online slot machine with some Pachinko-style gameplay? Well you get Rain Balls, this Irish-themed game from Skywind which awards a range of themed prizes for dropping the metal ball into the correct cauldrons.
Rain Balls is a five reel slot with three rows and fifteen fixed paylines; the starting position is the one shown above with the Pachinko area below the reels and a wheel of fortune above. A sunny, Irish landscape of meadows and rolling hills provides the backdrop.
Familiar symbols for this theme include the leprechaun’s hat, the golden horseshoe, the pipe, the beer barrel and the harp; lower value symbols are the clovers in red, green, blue and yellow. The rainbow is wild and it will replace everything else to help form winning matches.
Rain Balls Bonus Features
Pachinko Feature
The clover symbols may appear with metal balls in their centre and if you can make a winning combo which includes one of those clovers the ball will drop down into the cauldron area below. If the ball falls into a cauldron displaying a feature then that particular bonus will be awarded:
- Wild Reel – the reel above the cauldron will become completely wild.
- Extra Balls – awards three more balls which fall into the area to increase the chance of winning other features.
- Free Spins – awards ten free spins with two more added each time a ball falls into a Free Games cauldron during this round.
- Lucky Wheel – awards a multiplier win of up to 50x the bet or one of the jackpot prizes – Mini (100x), Major (200x) or Grand (500x).
Multiple features can be won if the Extra Balls fall into more than one active cauldron.
Verdict
Rain Balls is a very enjoyable trip to the Emerald Isle with a combination of Irish and Japanese gameplay mechanics which works really well; there’s no skill involved at all but if you can trigger the extra balls (as in the gameplay video above) then there should be some big wins around the corner.
