If those spinning reels are starting to get a bit hypnotic and your eyes are becoming unable to focus, perhaps it’s time to take a break from the online slot and head over to the table games. What we have here is a very simple one so if your brain is a little worn out you can rest easy in the knowledge that there are no tricky rules to learn. It’s called Red Dog, it’s from Net Entertainment and it’s fair to say that it’s rarely seen in bricks and mortar casinos.
Red Dog is a game which pits you against the dealer and your task is to guess the approximate value of a card which is dealt face down to you.
How It Works
It’s a blackjack-style setup but as you can see from the screenshot above it’s a bit simpler and the betting options are fewer.
The game begins when the dealer gives you three cards – the two outer ones will be face up and the middle one will be face down. All you have to do is decide whether the value of that face down card will be between the values of the other two. For example, if the outer cards are 3 and K, a winning card would be 4 – Q.
The smaller the spread, the better the odds for the player as follows:
Spread
- 1 – 5/1
- 2 – 4/1
- 3 – 2/1
- 4-11 – evens
- 3 of a kind – 11/1
If consecutive numbers or a pair are dealt, it’s a tie. However if a pair is dealt you have the choice to continue with the bet in the hope of getting 3 of a kind and an 11/1 win.
Betting is accomplished by selecting your chip size and then placing it in the ‘ante’ circle. Now just press ‘Deal’ to begin. You have a chance to raise your bet after the first stage is complete.
When the round is over you can click ‘Rebet’ to repeat the wager or ‘New Bet’ to change the wager amount.
Verdict
This quite an entertaining diversion and it’s very simple to get to grips with, even for card game novices. Some careful wagering should enable you to keep your losses small and hopefully make some money.
