The Tiki culture of a South Pacific island provides the inspiration for this online slot from Play N Go and it comes with the title of Rotiki; it has a cluster based gameplay mechanic with locking symbols and wilds which exude Tiki Magic to enhance the wins along with the ultimate prize – the Treasure Room!
Rotiki plays out on the 6 x 8 grid shown above and your aim is to land clusters of at least five matching symbols which connect horizontally and/or vertically; in an unusual twist the symbols spin in from the left hand side. The backdrop features Tiki idols, flaming torches and, in the far distance, a dangerous-looking volcano.
The higher value symbols are four traditional masks in purple, blue, red and green while the lower values are interesting carvings in similar colours. The big ‘W’ on the gold background is wild.
Rotiki Bonus Features
Locking Symbols & Respins
When you manage to land a cluster of five or more symbols you’ll receive three respins initially during which any matching symbols which add to the original cluster will lock in place also. Filling a row in this manner will award an extra three respins.
When there are no more respins any wild symbols in the combo will activate in one of two ways:
- Hanumi – the wild must be part of at least two clusters which will then merge, transforming into the highest paying.
- Whakarei – the wild must be part of only one cluster and it will upgrade all symbols to a random mask.
The Treasure Room
If you can fill all positions on the reels with clusters then The Treasure Room feature is activated and this is a picking round in which all positions turn into tiles. The number of picks you’ll receive equals the number of respins remaining when this round was triggered. There are four possible outcomes of each pick:
- X – an unsuccessful pick
- Green Swirl – awards and extra five picks.
- Stone Mask – adds 1x multiplier.
- Gold Mask – awards instant 10x multiplier.

| Rotiki is interesting and high quality stuff – wins are regular but it does take a lot of reel spinning action to grab even a small win; there are two ways to look at this, either it extends your winning gameplay in an enjoyable manner or it becomes a drag to win a tiny amount after a prolonged period of time.
