Coincidentally it’s not far off Chinese New Year as we’re completing this review but there’s no reason why you shouldn’t give this online slot a go at any time of the year. It’s called Wishing You Fortune, it’s developed by WMS Gaming and it joins a long list of oriental-themed games we’ve reviewed in the past.
Wishing You Fortune is a five reel slot with four rows and 1024 ways to win; the standard payline structure is replaced with a mechanism that allows you to win as long as you have matching symbols in adjacent reels from left to right. The design of the game is simple but we like the colourful lanterns rising into the sky in the background.
The base game symbols are mostly related to the theme and include a bird, a frog, a beautiful fish, a bonsai tree and some fortune cards; 9, 10, J, Q, K and A make up the lower values.
The golden dragon is wild, appears on reels two, three and four and substitutes for all other symbols except the bonus icon and Fortune Reel Trigger (this is also a wild symbols).

This is triggered by landing three or more of the girl bonus symbols from left to right and you will can choose one of the following options:
- 10 free spins + an R-wild will multiply an wins by 10x, 15x, or 30x

Fortune Reel Bonus
This is triggered by landing the Fortune Reel Trigger symbol on reel three; the strip above the reels will now spin and determine which of the two features you will play:
- Fortune Wild – 1 to 5 wilds are added to reels two to four and any payouts evaluated; the round ends after this.
- Festival Wheel – this is a wheel-of-fortune style game in which you must first place the icons onto the wheel; then spin the wheel and receive your prize – the top prize is won by landing the Mega icon and wins the amount in the top right hand corner above the reels.
Verdict
Once you get your head around the various bonus features, Wishing You Fortune is good fun to play and can prove profitable should you trigger one of those mini-games. This game comes with an RTP of 96.00%.
